My favorite song from that CD is Marty singing the Lead Belly song, "Silver City Bound".
"Silver City bound, Silver City bound, I'm going to tell my baby, I'm gonna ride on down I'm going to meet Blind Lemon, I'm gonna ride on down.
Silver City bound, Silver City bound I'm going to meet my baby, gonna ride on down...
I'm going to meet Blind Lemon, gonna ride on down.
Oh baby, I'm a blind man Bllind Lemon, doing the best he can, Blind Lemon, he was American.
I'm a blind, I'm a blind man."
Marty is nearly blind himself now, and so he rendition of "Silver City Bound" historic and so warm to begin with, is even more poignant. A fitting example of his life's work to carry on his friend Ian's work, playing both black and white American music as his own.
